Did you guys know that OSPI doesn’t approve curricula?
That the choice is totally up to local school boards?
Yup, it says so right on their site in their new and improved FAQs.
Districts just have to pick one on OSPI’s list.
Or they can work with OSPI on creating another one. But it has to conform to OSPI’s standards. And of course, they have to use OSPI’s guidelines to review it.
And it can’t be anything other than CSE. Then they have to report it to OSPI every year and explain how it conforms with OSPI's requirements.
Other than that, it’s totally, totally up to the local school boards. Aren’t you glad there’s so much freedom of choice?
